My middle daughter Gwen, who is 14 years old, loves the Barbie movies. I have been watching them with her, I have to admit that I have been enjoying myself immensely. The music is Broadway sounding. The voice over work is done by well know actors and actresses. The morals are told in very modern ways. They almost remind me of fun and modern morality plays.

We are in our final week of school, and it's been going by so quickly. Today and tomorrow is it, and then we're off for the summer. I am ready for a break...but I'm not completely done yet. I have to start rehearsals for my schools' summer musical, Grease (I'm in the pit orchestra), and then I have to go to drum major camp because I made drum major for next year, and then I get to conduct the fourth of July parade (marching backwards, no less), so I've still got a lot to do. I just got done with…

While at Wal-Mart one day. A young African man was checking my items and we got to talking. I had my youngest daughter with me, and commented on how helpful and well behaved she was. He ask about how old she. I told him that she had just turned 12 and that Ana, my daughter, went to a Christian school. He asked about if they taught Darwinism. I explained they taught both Creationism and Darwinism, and gave him other reason why she goes to a Christian school. He explain that in his country they be…

I grew up in the church. My mother was (and remains) a devout Lutheran. I remember her taking me to church when I was quite little. I sat patiently in the pew, not really sure what was going on. But I received sound instruction in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Camp and Luther League. I sang in the youth choir and I was an acholyte. I never attained Eagle Scout, but I earned my
Pro Deo et Patria (God and Country) badge. Even when I was in high school, I'd stay out until 3 AM…

Mr. Volf held the callbacks, and apparently it was the surprise way of telling us we were actually in Delphian choir for next year! I'm so excited! This was over a week ago, of course, I simply haven't had time to update during computer literacy class. On top of that I also managed to get into rhapsody choir, so it's definitely welcome. The only setback is that I have to drop Spanish, but my current Spanish teacher offered to give me weekly lessons to keep up on it, which is incredibly kind of h…

As many of you may already now, tomorrow is the National Day Of Prayer and a lot of Christian people will be celebrating it. A lot except our President.
President Barack Obama has decided to simply do a simple "lip service" instead of a celebration of the National Day of Prayer. For eight years, former President George W. Bush celebrated this day at the White House and invited many ministers to celebrate this day along with him and together they all prayed and recognized that this country was f…

Okay so as a small group leader for the last 2 1/2 years my group has seen many topics, studies, etc. Tonight we started a new series I found called Dinner and a Movie. It was awesome to cook a meal with my ladies and then be able to relax and joke while watching a movie together. We need to work on time since we were there for 4 hours but the amazing thing is nobody seemed to mind. For the next 3 months we are going to do this biweekly and I am so psyched to not have a lot of pre-planning or pr…

It started out pretty good until I got hit from behind by a car. My hubby, my three girls and I needed to goto Walmart. We didn't get very far. More pain, it's hard for me to walk right now.

Opening night went great. Of course there are some areas that need some work on butter if you count last night as our final dress as well as opening night it wen well. It has been 4 years since I have been at a opening night of a play I have co-directed. I had forgotten how exciting and nerve racking a opening night could be. All the work has been hard on my fibro. I was in a lot of pain yesturday but dealing with the pain was all worth it just so I can work in the theater again.

One more dress rehearsal then opening night. The cast is ready they just need to let go of their stress and worry. If they do that they can then concentrate on their characters and become the character they are playing. it has been exciting for me. To be able to direct again. To be able to work with such a talented cast, this has been dream come true to be able to direct again.

The Delphian choir teacher decided to hold a second callback, so I have to do another callback for him next Tuesday at 7 a.m...how he expects a bunch of girls still trying to put their make-up on in the morning to sing is beyond me, but that's all right. I have 7am biology, so I'd be at the school anyways. It seems like things were finally slowing down, but now I have to go to state music festival this weekend and perform Carnival de Venice once more. I'm really looking forward to it at this poi…

I promised I'd tell folks a story about my wife if I got sufficient response to
a question I asked on the Forum.
First, a kind of a warm-up while I waited for the returns to come in.
Before Brenda became a novelist she worked for a relatively prestigious newsletter put out by the
Research Institute of America, back in the day when their newsletter came out in p…

Again we got a lot done. The cast is starting to feel how the flow of the show goes. Didn't have the seniors here. They are at senior wilderness. I don't think we have had the whole cast all together yet. Even today we had trouble with some of the orphans being across the street at a fast foot place then practicing. Then the students who are there at rehearsal really working hard are the ones that have to carry the show. I know it's just a musical, but either drama, comedy or musical you still w…
